Volunteers
Are you a kind, caring individual who enjoys helping people? If so, you might be interested in becoming a Hospice volunteer. Hospice is a special kind of care for dying people, their families, and their caregivers. Hospice is there to give extra support at a critical time.
The Hospice staff, such as nurses, social workers, and clergy are essential to Hospice care, but the Hospice team also includes and depends on volunteers to help in many different ways.
These may include:
- "Being There" to let the patient know he or she is not alone
- Visiting the patient or caregiver
- Assisting with household chores
- Providing favorite foods or music
- Joining in favorite pastimes
- Running errands
- Writing thank-you notes
- Making telephone calls
- Fundraising
In other words, volunteers do all the caring things we do everyday to help a friend or neighbor going through a difficult time.
Hospice Volunteer Training is offered FREE of charge. Taking the training in no way obligates you to becoming a volunteer. Some people take it, to join us later when time allows.
Being a Hospice Volunteer can be one of the most rewarding things a person can do. If you are a caring compassionate man or woman interested in learning about volunteering for Hospice, call Hospice Services, Inc. at 1-800-315-5122 for more information.
We want YOU on our TEAM!!
